Target’s plus-size fashion audience

American retail company Target announced that they’ll be adding a special new plus-size collection to its racks this February.

The line ‘AVA and VIV’ is a combination of stylish basics along with trend-driven pieces, and comprises separates that can be mixed and matched to create looks.

The unique feature of the collection is that fact that the looks were designed with the help of famous plus-size fashion bloggers Nicolette Mason, Chastity Garner, and Gabi Gregg. Apart from getting a sneak preview of the spring and fall collections in the Target headquarters in Minneapolis, they were invited to give feedback on hemlines, colors and elements they liked, as well as things they didn’t approve of.

“This is a great way to let consumers know that the brand is listening.”; “A girl who wears it (the collection) is a girl who will want to be seen.”; “It suits my body type and shape.” were just a few of the positive comments from the three bloggers, as explained in a behind-the-scenes video.

This step on behalf of the brand is testimony to the fact that the importance given to the plus size fashion audience is growing in both scale and respect.
